Shopian. An army soldier was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in South Kashmir’s Shopian district early Friday. The operation of the security forces is going on. A wounded jawan has been admitted to the hospital. Intelligence agencies had reported about the presence of terrorists in the Pandushan area. The joint team of security forces then launched a search operation. On Thursday also two militants were killed in Kanjalwan in Gurez sector.

Earlier on July 27, two terrorists including Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Munna Lahori were killed during an encounter in Shopian. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh had reported that Lahori killed many civilians in the valley. He was also involved in the car blast in Pulwama and the blast in Banihal on March 30.

10,000 additional security forces deployed in Kashmir, President’s rule is currently in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the report- Central government has decided to deploy 100 companies of 10,000 additional security forces in the state after the visit of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to Kashmir. If sources are to be believed, before August 15, 15 in Srinagar, 10-10 in Pulwama and Sopore, 5-5 companies will be deployed in the remaining 10 districts. The help of Air Force Globemaster aircraft is being taken to send the troops.

963 terrorists killed in five years: Union Minister of State for Home Kishan Reddy told Parliament in July that 963 militants were killed in Kashmir in 5 years, while 413 security personnel were martyred. The government is working on a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism. More than 400 incursions occurred in three years. Of these, 119 were tried in 2016, 136 in 2017 and 143 in 2018.
