Solana-based gaming metaverse project Star Atlas announced on December 22 that it has sold $3 million worth of Star Atlas NFT spaceships to blockchain gaming company Animoca Brands.

Star Atlas is a sci-fi strategy game under development. It uses Unreal Engine 5, a real-time graphics technology used by Marvel movies, to create quality gaming experiences.

As per the announcement, Animoca Brands has purchased NFTs that are part of Star Atlas’ Galactic Asset Offering (GAO) event. The company will use the funds generated from GAO to further develop its Star Atlas metaverse.

Michael Wagner, Co-Founder and CEO of Star Atlas, commented:

“These spaceships will allow players to create value from their participation in the ecosystem. With the help of Animoca Brands’ partnership, we hope to become a leader in the play-to-earn space by creating a metaverse with the opportunity for players to create real-world impact on their lives.”

Animoca Brands is a Hong Kong-based gaming company and VC firm that uses blockchain and AI technology to develop and publish mobile games. Listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, the company has recently accelerated its investments in metaverse and blockchain gaming projects.

The gaming company recently announced a partnership with Yuga Labs, developer of Bored Ape Yacht Club, to create and publish a blockchain game based on the NFT collection. Animoca Brands has also set up a $200 million investment program with Binance Smart Chain to support crypto gaming startups.
