The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which has been banned thrice during the British Raj, is now the government, and its credit goes to its ‘worker’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yesterday, on 15 August, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat publicly lauded the Prime Minister for abolishing Kashmir’s special status by removing Article 370 in a very rare manner. Using the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election slogan, the RSS sarsanghchalak said, “Article 370 is because Modi is there, it is possible …”
One of the three basic wishes of the Sangh Parivar of RSS and its associated organizations was the elimination of privileges given to Kashmir under Article 370. Apart from this, the remaining two wishes of the Sangh Parivar are – to implement the Common Civil Code (Uniform Civil Code) to prevent people of different religions from following their own laws on issues like marriage and land ownership. Construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
I spoke to several BJP and Sangh leaders for this article. He said two important things somewhere. (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi and his top aide and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have assured (RSS chief Mohan) Bhagwat and his Naib Bhaiyyaji Joshi that the other two wishes on the agenda after Article 370 are also Modi’s current tenure as Prime Minister. Will be completed in Right now, the RSS, which is working fully with Modi, has also offered its electoral support through its wide network of volunteers and offered Modi a place among the great leaders of the Sangh (Modi in his speech on the occasion of Independence Day The mention of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the leading thinker of the Sangh, who died in Kashmir in 1953, was not a mere coincidence…)
The relationship between RSS and Modi has not always been so good, because, during Modi’s first term, Amit Shah used to handle most of the matters related to Modi as party president. He made a habit of calling Bhagwat twice a week and was always available to meet top RSS leaders. Amit Shah used to visit Nagpur every month to ensure that he and Bhagwat were aware of every step and that no government move proved to be a surprise to the Sangh.
The economy is now looking towards a deep crisis, so the BJP is of the opinion that by continuing to work on the cultural and ideological agenda its basic voter will be satisfied, and it will also be ensured that the headlines of the newspapers are only about unemployment and recession.
A small group of extremely powerful people is working cautiously on the upcoming steps. A senior BJP leader, who is familiar with the upcoming plans, says, “Article 370 was part of our manifesto, but no one was sure that we would fulfill the promise, but we did … Modi and Shah Sangh They are not part of, they are the Sangh, and they are the leaders of the voice of the mind… They know that the removal of Article 370 will give us a political advantage… India is now unable to accept this truth no It is that we are a ‘Hindu-dominated country’ … the mood has changed … Modi is running the government under the ideology and the time has come for the RSS to come across the country and ensure that our own values are reflected across the country. … “
Right now the RSS is running the country, so the matter of coming forward can be debated. Everything from the house (Rashtrapati Bhavan) at the top of Raisina Hill to the top government offices and ministries located in the North and South blocks is being run by former Sangh campaigners. The RSS is receiving unprecedented funding to spread its ideology across the country. Apart from this, luminaries like former President Dr. Pranab Mukherjee have started coming to its headquarters in Nagpur.
Even the mention of population control in the speech given by Modi on Independence Day is part of the script written thoughtfully. The Modi government is already working on such a scheme, under which benefits are provided to small families. So what to expect now…? Steps will be taken to further the economy, steps which have been termed as ‘tax terrorism’ will not be taken back, industrialists will be advised to contribute to the economy by paying taxes. And major steps will be taken on the Common Civil Code and Ram Mandir.
Now the Supreme Court is hearing daily in the Ram temple case, so the government is hopeful that a positive decision will come before the important elections in Uttar Pradesh next year. It is easy to pass the Uniform Civil Code in both the Houses of Parliament, possibly in the same manner as in Article 370.
A senior Sangh thinker says that Modi has recorded his name in history forever with Kashmir (but the verdict). He said, “Good or bad, history will decide, but for the Sangh, he has surpassed any other BJP leader, including Atal and Advani …” .
