Assamese cadres from BJP arrested for speaking against the CM

Assam Police arrested a member of the BJP Social Media team for making communal remarks on posts and insulting Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The cops detained at least three other people from across the state on similar charges.

The police had raided the house of another BJP member Hemant Barua on Wednesday night. Barua is a resident of Majuli district, which is also the constituency of the Chief Minister.  Neetu Bora had claimed on his social media post that the BJP government was responsible for the growing number of migrant Muslims.

These reports come days after Yogi Adityanath ordered arrests of three people based on charges of “defamation”. We don’t need hypocritical leaders in our nation, Mr. Narendra Modi should act now.

In Assam and many other areas of the North-East, protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill took place.
