The Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) is considering listing an exchange-traded fund (ETF) on Bitcoin. The Australian version of the news media “Business Insider” reported.
According to the report, ASX is currently reviewing multiple Bitcoin ETF applications. ASX declined to give details, but commented that it “has done enough” to consider digital assets.
ASX told Business Insider (Australia) that digital assets are well-established and cannot be ignored by exchanges.
ASX executive Max Cunningham commented, “In developed countries such as the United States, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom, (bitcoin) is becoming mainstream, especially for businesses. This cannot be ignored.” (Same report).
Earlier this year, four Bitcoin ETFs and four Ethereum ETFs were listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada.
