The Chain Technology Evaluation Index assesses 37 public chains based on basic technology, application and innovation
The 18th CCID Global Public Chain Technology Assessment Index was released yesterday by the China Electronics and Information Industry Development Institute.
The index is a comprehensive list of 37 known global public chains classified based on their technical dimensions. According to a Chainnews report, EOS topped the prestigious list again, with a total score of 150.6, while Bitcoin came in 12th place with a score of 106.2.
From March to May 2020, the number of major updates on selected products from the public chain decreased significantly.
The assessment is carried out based on three main criteria – “basic technologies, applications and innovative strength”.
The basic technologies section assesses the function, performance, security and decentralization of a project achieved by the public chain. IOST surpassed the basic technology criteria in the most recent list, closely followed by EOS and TRON.
The applications section assesses the deployment of nodes, support for the development of portfolio applications and the implementation of public chain applications. Ethereum maintained its first place in the section with TRON and Nebula Chain in the 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
While the innovation section evaluates the creative aspects of public chains, analyzing the scale of the developers, the updates and the influence of the code. Bitcoin ranked first in the innovation category, followed by Ethereum and EOS.
The total score is then determined based on the weighted sum of the scores for all sections.
Bitcoin showed improvement
EOS was rated the best performing blockchain project, with an overall score of 156.1. TRON came in second with 138. 43 points and Ethereum came in third with 136.4 points.
Bitcoin's current position at number 12 in the index is an expansion of its previous ranking in 14th place. At that time, Bitcoin got only 16.6 in applicability, compared to 21.3 in this most recent list.
Interestingly, TRON maintained a position in the top 5, despite strained relations with the Chinese authorities. TRON founder Justin Sun was recently alerted by Chinese authorities on suspicions of the platform's legality.
