An ad supporting Bitcoin blocked by a British editor. The reason for the blocking is that the ad committed a graphic crime.
The cryptocurrency exchange, BitMEX, published an ad in the Times of London, reminding of the 10th anniversary of the mining of the first bitcoin BTCUSD block and showing massive growth.
The problem with the Advertising Standards Authority (and perhaps the four complainants) was that the graph showing the growth of bitcoin was on a logarithmic scale.
That is, after zero, the scale has increased to 1, then to 10, then to 1000, to 100,000, unlike the arithmetic scale, which will increase by the same amount each time.

While the editor acknowledged that ölçek such scales are a valid and useful way of presenting data,, “in the absence of explanatory information, it is not possible for the graph to become familiar or easily understood to the national newspaper audience to which the ad is directed. ”
BitMEX is not allowed to republish the creative in its current format. Therefore, we must state that the sanction is not too heavy.
Recently, the Commodity Futures and Trade Commission (CFTC) in the United States to suspend the offer of citizens to trade illegally BitMEX’e investigation into the suspicion of BitMEX’e large money withdrawal transactions were in question.
The $ 85 million withdrawal probably occurred after the Commodity Futures and Trade Commission launched a recent investigation into the Stock Exchange because it offered trading services to US citizens.
