Blockchain technology was included in the Federal Government's digital transformation program, which will be carried out during the year by the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI). The investment in the entity linked to the Ministry of Economy will be R $ 25 million.
According to the decree published in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU) on Wednesday (19), blockchain technology is now being studied as a tool for creating innovative solutions in the public sector.
The objective, according to the document, is to create the necessary conditions to promote the digitalization of the Brazilian productive sector.
In this way, the “stimulus to the use of Blockchain applications to increase the efficiency of public management” will be applied.
Blockchain for security
The action is also part of the stage "Implementation of Security Mechanisms in the Digital Environment".
According to the publication, ABDI's goal is to deliver a cybersecurity center structured to disseminate cybersecurity actions in public agencies, industry 4.0 and critical infrastructures.
Also according to the document, blockchain technology will be used as a tool for the public collection process “from a pilot project”.
Innovation and new business models
Another ABDI program will focus on the adoption and diffusion of innovation and new business models.
The general objective of the action is to provide companies with instruments that enable the adoption and diffusion of innovations that will lead to the modernization of the Brazilian productive sector.
The stages will follow a planning on the generation of intelligence for policies aimed at improving the productive and business processes of micro, small and medium-sized companies, of the ‘Brasil Mais Produtivo Program’ (B + P).
Government eyeing blockchain
Last December, the Ministry of Planning hired Dataprev to provide data access service for the Federal Reserve's Blockchain permissioned network.
Dataprev, which in turn received training from the Blockchain Academy course company, is responsible for processing social data from the Brazilian government.
