Major US beer brand Budweiser released its first NFT collection on Monday.
The collection dubbed the “Budverse Cans Heritage Edition,” features one-of-a-kind 1,936 digital cans created using photographs, advertisements, and designs that have been produced throughout the history of Budweiser. The number 1,936 signifies the year when Budweiser’s first canned beer was launched in 1936.

In addition, the company revealed that each NFT will also function as a key to access “Budverse” and enjoy the benefits and surprises exclusive to NFT holders. US residents who are of legal drinking age are eligible to purchase the NFTs.
Of the 1,936 NFTs, 36 are considered Gold NFTs which are priced at $999 on the official website. The Gold tokens come with benefits and rewards, with Budweiser calling it VIP tickets to the “best experiences in Budverse and beyond.”

The remaining 1,900 pieces are called core NFTs and are priced at $499, which also comes with exclusive benefits. Soon after the collection went live, the web portal experienced heavy traffic, leading Budweiser’s website to crash.
Since then, the collection was sold out within hours of the official sale. Users were able to purchase the NFTs in fiat currencies, credit cards, or bitcoin/ether via Coinbase Commerce. Users have already started trading the collection on the NFT marketplace OpenSea as secondary purchases.
Budweiser has made considerable progress in the NFT and crypto industry. The beer brand had recently purchased an NFT created by Tom Sachs called “Life of the Party.” At the time, Budweiser also purchased an Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain called “beer.eth” for 30 Ether.
