Coca-Cola has announced today that it has collaborated with creators at Tafi, a fully customizable avatar platform, to create its first-ever NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) collectibles. The collectables will be auctioned off on digital marketplace OpenSea and all the proceeds will be given to Special Olympics International.
The auction will be held for four days starting from July 30th to commemorate the International Friendship Day. The digital collection is reported to be inspired by shared moments of friendship.
This is the first time Coca-Cola is offering NFT collectibles and entering the world of ‘Metaverse’. There are four types of NFTs Coca-Cola will be offering in the auctions: ‘The Friendship Box’, “Coca-Cola Bubble Jacket Wearable”, “The Sound Visualizer”, and “The Friendship Card”.
‘The Friendship Box’ is a virtual version of Coca-Cola’s highly collectible vending machine. The custom ‘Coca-Cola Bubble Jacket Wearable’ is a virtual jacket that can be worn in Decentraland, a decentralized virtual reality game hosted on Ethereum blockchain.
‘The Sound Visualizer’ contains exhilarating sounds such as: ‘the pop of a bottle opening, the sound of a beverage being poured over ice, the unmistakable fizz and that first refreshing taste’.
Lastly, ‘The Friendship Card’ will be the virtual version of Coca-Cola’s famous friendship-inspired trading cards from the 1940s.
Selman Careaga, president of the global Coca-Cola category, said:
“Coca-Cola is one of the most collectible brands in the world, sharing its rich heritage with consumers through simple moments of joy for decades. We are excited to share our first NFTs with the metaverse where new friendships are being forged in new ways in new worlds, in celebration of International Friendship Day and in support of our longstanding friend and partner, Special Olympics. Each NFT was created to celebrate elements that are core to the Coca-Cola brand reinterpreted for a virtual world in new and exciting ways.”
