The Hong Kong branch of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the world’s four largest accounting and consulting firms, has purchased a land plot in the metaverse game The Sandbox. The announcement resulted in the SAND token trading up 20% from the previous day.
The announcement, made by The Sandbox parent company Animoca Brands, noted that PwC’s Hong Kong branch has become the first internationally recognized professional services brand to enter its virtual space. The company has purchased the LAND in the form of NFT and will use the plot to build a Web 3.0 advisory hub.
Meanwhile, both parties have not disclosed the purchase price and location of the LAND. William Gee, a partner at PwC Hong Kong, said in the announcement:
“The Metaverse offers new possibilities for organisations to create value through innovative business models, as well as introducing new ways to engage with their customers and communities. We will leverage our expertise to advise clients who wish to embrace the Metaverse on the full range of challenges presented by this emerging global digital phenomenon.”
Several businesses, brands, and celebrities have entered The Sandbox. Popular US rapper Snoop Dogg recently collaborated with The Sandbox to build his own Snoopverse, and Adidas Originals also secured LAND in the virtual space.
With big names joining The Sandbox, the metaverse land saw 4500 unique wallet addresses joining the land in 30 days, as per data by DappRadar. Its token SAND jumped 20% on the news and was trading at $6.08 at press time.
