Cryptocurrency wallet “Metamask” updates account management function

How to use the virtual currency wallet “MetaMask” that even beginners can understand

MetaMask updated

MetaMask, a self-managed wallet for crypto assets (virtual currency), has updated its mobile app and browser extension.

For the mobile version, we are working to optimize the user experience, including the convenience of account connection.

Mobile updates are primarily aimed at putting privacy first and reducing unnecessary exposure to Dapps and external services.

First, you can now switch between wallet and browser with one tap within MetaMask mobile. In addition, it is easier to control which accounts connect and disconnect with dApps (decentralized applications).

Metamask allows you to register multiple wallet addresses and switch between accounts. Until now, when connecting to dApps with MetaMask mobile, all accounts (addresses) in one wallet were connected at once.

Accounts can now be managed separately when connected, and will remain separate for each tab even when you open a new tab. It also makes it easier to disconnect individual accounts.

Breaking the link between the two addresses is expected to improve privacy performance. For example, if you have Account 1 for long-term hold and Account 2 for DeFi (decentralized finance), the loss of the link between the two addresses will result in Account 2 being actively connected with new DeFi applications. Even if you come into contact with a fraudulent contract, Account 1 is expected to have the advantage of reducing the risk of being attacked.

User data management made easier

Browser extension updates are primarily aimed at giving users more control over their data. Options were put in place to limit the amount of data sent to third-party services or change RPC providers. These adjustments can be operated from “Security and Privacy” in the “Settings” item.

By default, incoming transactions, phishing detection, and the ability to send requests to third-party APIs are turned on. By being able to turn these off at any time, it is argued, users have more control over their data.

Also, when creating a new wallet, the default RPC “Infura” can now be freely selected rather than automatically used. Infura is an RPC developed by US developer ConsenSys, and has been criticized for changing its policy to store wallet addresses and IP addresses as a set when relaying to validators.
