Following Gucci and Burberry, high-end luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana has now joined the race to release its exclusive NFT collection. The exclusive Venice-inspired collection will be held on sale at UNXD, a luxury digital marketplace, from August 28th to 30th.
The NFT collection named ‘Collezione Genesi’ (Genesis Collection) will focus on the artistic history and traditions of the city of Venice. The announcement read:
“The collections jog one’s memory over the artistic history of Venice, also known as the city of the Doges. The launch is set to feature in three major Dolce&Gabbana events, Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, and Alta Goilleria, to be held in Venice in late August.”
UNXD is a luxury and culture-focused digital marketplace powered by the Polygon Network. The network offers cheaper transactions compared to the Ethereum mainnet.
In a Twitter spaces Livestream on Friday, UNXD CEO Sashi Menon said:
“We have a very deep relationship with the house of Dolce & Gabbana and have been working with them for many years. When we proposed the idea to them, we were really enthused by how the team was taken by it. What is important here is that fashion is fundamentally an artistic medium.”
UNXD COO Nick Gonzalez added:
“With this collection, Dolce & Gabbana [is] creating NFTs that bridge their creative work from the physical to the metaphysical. This will pave the path for more brands to join the space as they see the power of digital ownership to create opportunities that align with their underlying ethos and core brand and business.”
With several brands including Topps, Warner Bros., UFC, Playboy, TIME, and USA Today joining the latest trend of NFTs, it was only natural for luxury brands like Gucci and D&G to launch high-priced art transactions.
The first concept “Dress from a Dream” will feature exclusive designs from Dolce & Gabbana co-founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
