Edith Gonzalez, Mexican telenovela star dies of cancer at 54

Known for her signature roles in Mundo de fieras, Doña Bárbara, Las Bravo, and Camaleones, the 54-year-old popular telenovela star died after years of battling ovarian cancer.

In 2017, her cancer was in remission after being diagnosed a year before. However, the disease was back again shortly after. She has a 14-year-old daughter, Constanza and was living with her husband Lorenzo Lazo.

Andrea Legarreta labeled Gonzalez as a “loving warrior”, Michelle Renaud and numerous celebrities offered their condolences as well.

Salomé is the principle show which was released in 2001, that made her a household name in Mexico and other areas of Latin America.

Corazón Salvaje is also a well-known telenovela featuring her as a protagonist. Edith’s career took off in the 1970s when the actress was still a child.
