Ethereum core developers have set a date for the next major upgrade, “Shapella.” It will be held on April 12 (around 19:30) at epoch number 620,9536.

Shapella (Shanghai + Capella = Shapela) will mainly implement staked Ethereum (ETH) withdrawal functions. In addition, some improvements related to gas price optimization are also incorporated.

Meanwhile, EIP-4844, a proposal to cut Layer 2 gas costs, has been pushed back until June.
