In 2007, she had the chance to play the final, but Germany won the World Cup title by defeating Brazil 2-0. This is also the best performance of the Brazilian team in the women’s World Cup.

Formiga is currently topped with Japan’s Homara Sawa in terms of playing football football World Cup. Sawa also played a key role in making his team World Cup champion in 2011.

Talking about men, only 3 footballers have played 5 World Cups so far. These are Mexico’s Rafael Marquez and Antonio Carbazal and Germany’s Lothar Mathews. Lothar also made Germany a World Cup winner in his captaincy.

If Formiga plays in France, she will also become the oldest female footballer to play in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Apart from Formiga in the Brazilian team, there are some other well-known faces including Marta.
