Ganguly raises questions on selection of Team India, says: Rahane and Gill are surprised at not being in ODI squad

Sports desk Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly criticized the selection committee for the West Indies tour. Ganguly surprised Ajinkya Rahane and Shubhaman Gill in the ODI team. He said on Wednesday that there are some players in the team who can play in all formats. Shubhaman Gill did not get a place in the squad selected for the West Indies tour. Rahane has been included in the Test team only. He played in the last ODI in February 2018. Rahane scored 2962 runs in 90 ODIs at an average of 35.26.

Ganguly tweeted on Wednesday, “The time has come that Indian selectors choose the same player in all formats for the rhythm and confidence. Some players play in all formats. There are frequent players in the world’s best teams. This is not to please everyone, but to choose the best players for the country. There are several players in the team who can play in all formats. Shubhaman Gill and Rahane were surprised to not see them in the ODI team.

Shubhaman had expressed disappointment over not being selected, Shuvaman scored 218 runs in five matches against West Indies A. During this, he made three half-centuries. For India A, he scored 1545 runs in 38 matches. He got the Emerging Player of the Tournament award in the last season of the IPL. In the last season, Subhaman scored 700 runs in five Ranji matches. Shubhaman said, “I was waiting for the Indian team’s selection on Sunday. I was hoping that one team would definitely be selected. Not to be frustrating, but I’m not going to think about it anymore. I will continue to make runs According to my ability to influence the selectors, I will continue to perform better.

Rahane’s technically strong Test team vice-captain Rahane is out of the team for 17 months. Former players had criticized the selectors even though they were not included in the World Cup squad. In this World Cup, the Indian batsmen also did not score a half-century on fourth place. Rahane is technically strong. Ganguly therefore wants to see him in the team. Rahane batted in the middle order (No. 4 to 7) and played 31 matches. During this time, he scored 849 runs at an average of 32.65.

There are four players in the format of all formats , besides captain Kohli, who are included in the team for all format. These include Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant.
