Japanese Internet company GMO announced on the 31st the launch of the beta version of its NFT marketplace ‘Adam by GMO’.
The NFT marketplace would be operated by GMO Adam, a consolidated company of GMO Financial. Apart from Ethereum, the company would offer bank transfers and credit card payments to purchase NFTs from its platform.
According to the company, Adam by GMO “realizes payment and distribution of highly authentic and secure digital content with the aim of supporting the content distribution revolution utilizing NFT.”
Apart from royalties paid to the artists for the works, users can also support creators by purchasing the work with “Adam by GMO”. NFTs purchased from Adam by GMO can be resold in its platform again and part of the sale would be returned as royalties to the creators of NFT.
Since the launch of its beta version, the company has exhibited and sold a total of 1,192 digital contents of K-1 of standing martial arts, Hikaru of YouTuber, and works of over 36 manga artists and illustrators.
Its competitors, NFT issuance and trading platform businesses Coincheck and LINE, a subsidiary of Z holdings, have already developed and launched their marketplaces. Additionally, Rakuten Group this week has revealed plans to enter the NFT business by next year.
