National Desk. The Meteorological Department says that since the monsoon on June 1, the country has received more than twice the average rainfall for the week ending July 31 (Wednesday). According to the department, the rains have brought great relief to the farmers and their worries of drought have gone away. In fact, 55 percent of the arable land in the country is still irrigated by rain water and its contribution to India’s $ 2.5 trillion economy is about 15 percent. In such a situation, along with increasing agricultural production in the country, the role of monsoon is also very important in increasing the pace of economic development of the country.

The last week of July was the best

According to data released by the Meteorological Department, the average rainfall received in the country in the week ending July 31 is 42 percent more than the average rainfall during the same period in the last 50 years. However, in the monsoon season from June to September, India has received 9 percent less rainfall than the average at present.
