Input Output, the organization behind the development of the Cardano blockchain, announced the confirmed date on which the ‘Alonzo’ hard fork would be implemented on the mainnet.
The implementation of the upgrade will be carried out on September 12, 21:44:51 UTC, according to a tweet posted by the company. Charles Hoskinson, the co-founder of Cardano blockchain, posted a Tweet saying, “The Alonzo Era is on its way”.
Via a series of tweets, the company noted:
“The #Alonzo HFC event will be the most significant upgrade yet, laying the firmest of foundations for an exciting new era of #smartcontracts on #Cardano.”
The development of Cardano has been roughly divided into five stages namely: ‘Byron’, ‘Shelley’, ‘Goguen’, ‘Basho’, and ‘Voltaire’.
The network is currently working on its third stage ‘Goguen’, in which the function of the smart contract would be implemented. The theme of ‘Basho’ is scaling, and the theme of “Voltaire” is governance.
