Itamaraty contest for diplomat requires knowledge in blockchain and cryptocurrencies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs started to consider knowledge about blockchain and cryptocurrencies as mandatory content in a competition for a diplomat's career in Brazil.

The call for tenders for the area was published on Tuesday (30) in the Official Gazette (DOU) by the Rio Branco Institute (IRBr), a division of the General Secretariat for Foreign Affairs.

According to the announcement, there are 25 vacancies open for "Third Secretary of the diplomat's career". The contest will be held in three phases and IRBr will be applied, with the collaboration of the American Development Institute (IADES).

According to the publication, themes related to cryptoeconomics – “Cryptocurrencies, blockchain and the impacts on the world economy” – will be addressed in the first and third phases of the evaluation with questions about international relations.

In them, in addition to questions about blockchain and cryptocurrencies, questions of basic concepts on international politics and the role of Brazil in global economic relations will be raised. According to the DOU, from the evolution of Brazilian foreign policy to international coalitions, such as G-20 and BRICS.

In addition to the areas of mandatory knowledge in most competitions – Portuguese Language, History and Geography etc, the assessments will cover a range of studies. This includes Economics, Law, English, French, as well as writing on a general theme, according to the syllabus.

Diplomat Contest

According to the DOU, there are 25 vacancies, five for black candidates and two for people with disabilities. The starting salary for those approved and hired will be R $ 19,199.06.

According to the notice, the first phase will be held in the capitals of the 26 states of the Federation and the Federal District and the second and third phases in the capitals where there are candidates approved in the previous phase.
