Christine Moy, one of the early leaders of blockchain and crypto development at JP Morgan, announced that she is leaving after a run-in of nearly two decades with the company. Moy was most recently serving as the Global Head of Metaverse at JP Morgan’s Onyx division.

According to Moy’s LinkedIn post announcing her leave, the executive will pursue a new unnamed opportunity.

“After almost two decades, I am leaving JPM to pursue a new opportunity. I am so proud of defining cross-firm blockchain & crypto strategy,” Moy said in her post before listing the several blockchains and metaverse-related accomplishments she made at the Wall Street Bank.

Moy headed several positions at JP Morgan, including the Global Head of Blockchain & Crypto, the Global Head of Liink payment network, and the Global Head of Metaverse. She was the co-founder of JP Morgan’s digital assets and blockchain unit ‘Onyx’. In addition, she was one of the pioneers who led the JPM Coin.

Umar Farooq, head of Onyx, said in a memo obtained by Bloomberg:

“Christine has been instrumental in building and leading JPMorgan’s blockchain program, dating back to 2015 when the blockchain team consisted of fewer than five people. Fortunately, we have a very strong bench of exceptional leaders and experts in distributed ledger technology that will enable us to lead and innovate in this space in the future.”

JP Morgan recently became the first Wall Street bank to enter the metaverse with the launch of its own digital lounge in metaverse platform Decentraland.
