Star basketball player Stephan Curry of NBA team Golden State Warriors has released the world’s first cross-platform metaverse sneaker in partnership with sports apparel brand Under Armour and blockchain gaming platform Gala Games.
The NFT release marks the occasion of Curry breaking NBA legend Ray Allen’s all-time three-point NBA record in a match against the New York Knicks on December 14. The digital collectible features Under Armour brand sneaker “Curry Flow 9” worn by Curry during the historical match.
Under Armour has been a sponsor partner of Curry since 2013, and in December 2020, the company collaborated with Curry to launch his personal brand, Curry Brand.
The 2,974 NFT collection called “Genesis Curry Flow NFT” was minted on Polygon and can be worn in three metaverse spaces, Gala Games, The Sandbox, and Decentraland. The number 2,974 commemorates Curry’s 2,974th career shot.
Under Armour released the NFT collection on Dec. 22 at 1 AM UTC priced at $333 each. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to charities that provide underprivileged youth access to sports.
2974 editions of the Genesis Curry Flow NFT will be available at 8pm EST tonight. 🏀

Stephan Curry is not a first-timer in the crypto and NFT space. In August, the basketball player bought a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT 55 ETH, worth approx. $180,000 at the time. It recently became the global ambassador and shareholder of the popular crypto derivatives exchange FTX.
