NEC concludes MoU with Animoka and others, aiming to create and expand the web3 digital wallet market

NEC collaborates with Animoka

On the 28th, NEC announced a partnership with Animoca Brands, a major web3 company in Hong Kong, and crypto asset (virtual currency) wallet provider Gryfyn Holdings Limited.

We have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate from April 2011 with the aim of creating and expanding the digital wallet market in the three web domains, centering on entertainment such as games and content (IP).

Using technologies such as biometric authentication, secure computing, and blockchain, NEC has been working to expand the digital wallet market and business in order to realize a trustworthy web3 society where privacy protection and data utilization are compatible. .

Animoka Brands is a leader in digital entertainment, blockchain and gamification, helping to advance digital property rights and establish an open metaverse.

Gryfyn is a joint venture between Animoka and custody company Hex Trust. A custodial cryptocurrency wallet that allows users to use cryptocurrencies without worrying about fraud, hacking, or loss of private keys. As a sponsor of the MotoGP (road racing world championship), Gryfyn has held wallet-linked events.

By collaborating with the three companies, by combining software and technology related to digital wallets, we will realize a trustworthy web3 society and create and expand markets, starting with entertainment such as games and content (IP). aim.

NEC, Animoka Brands, and Gryfyn will jointly launch an accelerator program in Japan. In the future, we will solicit business ideas in the three web areas from startup companies, integrate them into the ecosystem of NEC, Animoca Brands and Gryfyn, and jointly consider commercialization. Details such as when the program will start will be announced in due course.

NEC is working on business development in the Digital ID area, which connects various services using biometric authentication as a common ID. In the field of “technology related to ID linkage or customer experience (CX) in biometrics related technology”, it is rated as No. 1 in Japan in terms of quality and quantity of patents (according to research by Patent Result Co., Ltd.).

NEC also participates in the “Digital Currency Forum” launched by DeCurret DCP.

What is Animoca Brands?

Animoca Brands owns high-profile web3s such as Blowfish Studios, Grease Monkey Games, and Eden Games, with Metaverse decentralized blockchain game “The Sandbox” at the top. In terms of external investment destinations, there are more than 380 companies.

In January 2023, it was revealed that Animoka’s metaverse fund was aiming to raise approximately 130 billion yen ($1 billion) in the first quarter of 2023.
