new Delhi. Auto company Nissan will lay off 1,700 employees in India. Most of these will be employees associated with manufacturing operations. The news agency gave this information citing sources on Friday. The company plans to lay off 6,100 people worldwide under Global Restructuring. This process will be completed by 2022. The company had targeted to reduce 6,400 employees from 8 locations around the world in 2018-19.
The Japanese company Nissan’s Chennai-based plant employs 40,000 people directly and indirectly in Tamil Nadu. The Chennai plant has an annual production capacity of 4.8 lakh units.
