Ontology, which develops open-source platforms specializing in decentralized identity and data solutions, has partnered with bloXmove, a B2B mobility blockchain platform, to build a worldwide decentralized transport network by connecting mobility apps.
Announcing the partnership on Tuesday, Ontology and bloXmove will together build a system that would integrate transport and mobility apps of all public transportation and mobile services into one app.
By leveraging Ontology’s blockchain technology, bloXmove will implement interoperability with other public blockchains, thereby improving efficiency and reducing costs.
With this new initiative, the companies aim to address the proliferation of data exchange which happens when users avail themselves services of urban transport apps for booking train and flight tickets. Usually, availing of these services requires users to sign-up to various applications over and over again, leading to a scattered infrastructure.
However, with this partnership, bloXmove will integrate Ontology’s decentralized digital identity protocol (DID) into its platform, and create a decentralized system where participants can share their verifiable information, such as a driver’s license while maintaining complete anonymity.
Additionally, the system will allow users to securely store multiple identifiers in one place thereby “enabling reuse of the same identifier for multiple modes of transport.”
Li Jun, Founder of Ontology, commented:
“The fragmentation of the urban transport industry means there is a great need to fortify user security and data through decentralized technologies. bloXmove is doing amazing work to streamline the user journey and now, by integrating Ontology’s DID and data solutions, the whole ecosystem will be made easier to navigate, more private, and more secure.”
“Easy access to mobility should not mean a compromise on privacy and data security for our users, which is why we have partnered with Ontology to strengthen our offering and provide our users with new, even more secure ways to share their information when using mobility apps,” said Dr. Harry Behrens, CTO and Co-Founder of bloXmove, of the partnership.
