Ontology, an open-source blockchain specializing in decentralized identity and data, announced on the 6th the official release of its decentralized ID solution ‘ONT ID’.
According to the announcement made by the company, ONT ID is a decentralized identity framework that is combined with “W3C’s recommended standards for decentralized identifiers and verifiable credentials”.
The company explained that the new feature would allow users to have control over when and how their digital identity data is shared and avoid the possibility of identity theft from centralized databases.
The new feature is characterized by decentralization, data autonomy, privacy protection, security, and convenience and aims to provide decentralized digital IDs to various users from individuals to businesses.
The ONT ID ecosystem is linked to the ONT Login and ONT TAG (ONT Trust Anchor Gateway) authentication platforms based on Ontology’s credit system. By integrating these services, ontology users can receive identity verification services regardless of national borders.
“ONT Login” is a login component for distributed universal authentication. ONT Login provides a communication interface with the distributed identity management wallet and is responsible for facilitating the rapid integration of identity management applications.
Whereas “ONT TAG” is a distributed identity (DID) -based batch authentication solution. By using ONT TAG, instead of executing individual transactions, the app can authenticate whether the user’s authentication result is correct.
Ontology Network has also partnered with Daimler, maker of Mercedes Benz vehicles, to develop an in-car personalization and management solution.
