Rabbids are aliens that look like white rabbits and are characterized by their humorous movements and mischievous personalities. Since 2006, this Rabbids Party series has been sold on Nintendo Wii and other platforms.

Meanwhile, Reddit launched a series of NFTs on the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain in July 2022 and has called these “collectible avatars.” Reddit collectible avatars allow their owners to license their art to use on and off Reddit, while combining avatar parts to create unique customizations.

A partnership with Ubisoft will bring a series of Rabbids NFT avatars to Reddit users. These avatars are free for users to personalize their profiles.

Reddit and Ubisoft efforts

Ubisoft has been exploring ways to incorporate NFTs into games for some time. At the end of 2021, the NFT platform “Ubisoft Quartz” will be launched. When “Digit” was introduced as an NFT compatible with this platform, it was adopted in an action game called “Ghost Recon Breakpoint”.

Ubisoft’s NFT trials are still ongoing, and in February 2011, in cooperation with the blockchain game “The Sandbox”, Rabbits became playable in the metaverse (virtual space) as voxel art avatars. Launched Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles on Polygon in March. This collection consists of various Assassin’s Creed heroes, with rarity settings for parts, poses, and more.

Online message board giant Reddit has had great success with its mascot-focused “Snoo” collectible avatar. So far, new collections have been released for events such as Halloween and the Super Bowl, expanding the series.

According to data analytics platform Dune, more than 9.7 million unique wallets currently hold more than 13.5 million collectible avatars. Most of these NFTs were initially offered free to Reddit users, but the scale of transactions has grown, especially in secondary markets. So far, the total trading volume of the secondary market has reached over 4.6 billion yen ($32.6 million), and the market capitalization of Reddit NFT has expanded to over 46.4 billion yen ($330 million). .
