- Former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy dies at the age of 77 on Sunday
- Reddy was elected four times MLA and 5 times MP in undivided Andhra Pradesh
new Delhi. Congress leader and former union minister S. Jaipal Reddy was given tribute in Rajya Sabha. During this, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu became emotional on Monday. Reddy died on Sunday at the age of 77. Vice President Naidu said that Jaipal’s visit is very sad. He was my friend, senior assistant and guide. At the same time, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recalled him as an efficient administrator.
Recalling 40 years of relationship with Reddy, Naidu said, “I had the privilege of working with him for two terms in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. We both used to sit on the same bench. Our different issues were discussed. Then the assembly meeting began at 8 o’clock in the morning. We used to meet breakfast at seven o’clock. He was 6 years older than me and was my guide. ”
Leader of the poor and backward was Jaipal: Manmohan
Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to Reddy’s wife and condoled her. He said, “Dear friend and a senior Congress leader, I am very sad. He had a store of knowledge and experience. His death caused huge damage to the country. Jaipal did a lot of work for the poor and the oppressed. ”
Best Parliamentarian Award in 1998
Reddy was born on January 16, 1942 in Madgul of Hyderabad. His political journey began with the President of the Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress. In undivided Andhra Pradesh, he was elected a four-time legislator and five times MP. In 1998, former Prime Minister IK Gujral was Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the Government of Gujral Reddy got the Best Parliamentary Award in 1998. In UPA-1, he also took over the responsibility of the Urban Development Ministry. In UPA-II, he has the responsibility of Ministry of Urban Development and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
