Introducing AI to Blockchain
The Solana Foundation, which supports the cryptocurrency Solana (SOL) network, announced on the 23rd that it has launched a plug-in for generative AI (artificial intelligence) “ChatGPT”.
The plugin allows the Solana blockchain to interact with ChatGPT’s artificial intelligence. Developers who want to use the plugin can already download it from Github.

What is ChatGPT
Developed by OpenAI, it is an interactive AI designed to answer user questions as if it were a conversation with a human. It has a wide range of uses, including content creation, report creation, and code design, but there are also many concerns such as privacy and copyright infringement.

It was previously revealed that a ChatGPT plugin was being developed that could be used on the Solana blockchain. Last month, Solana Labs, developer of the Solana Blockchain, announced an example implementation of the plugin.

Today, we are announcing that the plugin is indeed open to the public. The Solana Foundation says Solana is the first Layer 1 blockchain to make artificial intelligence available in ChatGPT plugins.
By introducing this plugin to your app, you can use ChatGPT to purchase NFTs (non-fungible tokens), send tokens, check transactions, and search NFT collections.

Anatoly Yakovenko, CEO of Solana Labs, commented, “AI makes Solana more practical and makes the network easier to understand.” He also argued that “all developers building user-focused apps should think about leveraging AI.”
AI use cases
This time, the Solana Foundation introduced a case where AI technology is already being used in the Solana ecosystem. For example, the Context project is building a Solana-specific chatbot, and Hivemapper is using AI to create maps.
It also announced today that it will increase the development support fund announced in April from $1 million (approximately 130 million yen) to $10 million for the purpose of expanding AI use cases. The assistance program has already received 50 applications, he said.
The Solana Foundation also explained that it is holding a three-month accelerator program for university students. This is a program to help college students test blockchain and AI.
