Subhash Chandra Garg has sought retirement 15 months back, has been removed from the Finance Secretary and made energy secretary

new Delhi. Subhash Chandra Garg gave an application for retirement (VRS) only after the change of the department. The news agency has given this report by quoting sources. Garg was removed from the finance ministry on Wednesday and was given the responsibility of the energy secretary in the power ministry. Earlier, he was the Finance Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. His service is up to October next year. Secretary of Investment and Public Property Management (DIPAM), Atanu Chakrabarty has been made the new Secretary of Economic Affairs.

It is not clear whether the government will accept Garg’s application

  1. Garg was the senior most officer in the finance ministry. He was in charge of financial policy and RBI matters. The budget was included in the process of preparation. High profile mother goes to the Ministry of Finance. The importance of the Ministry of Energy is considered less than this.

  2. News Agency sources said that Garg reached the finance ministry on Thursday morning but left in the afternoon in the afternoon. It is not clear whether the government will accept their VRS application or not.

  3. Garg is the IAS of Rajasthan cadre of 1983 batch. In 2014 they came to the center. In 2017, became the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA). Garg was appointed finance secretary after retirement of Mr. Jha in March this year.
