New Delhi: The Supreme Court has withdrawn the interim stay on the arrest of Mamata Bannerjee and the arrest of former police commissioner Rajiv Kumar .
But it has given the seven days time to go to court for advance bail.Till then, Rajiv Kumar can not be arrested.
In fact, the CBI has sought permission to arrest him in connection with concealing evidence in the Saradha Chit Fund scam and demanded withdrawal of the order on February 5 in which the Supreme Court decided to stay his arrest.
On May 2, the bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjeev Khanna reserved the judgment. During the hearing, the CBI had asked the Supreme Court to end the relief given to former Commissioner of Kolkata. The CBI said that this is not just Rajiv Kumar but it is important to inquire about whoever else is involved in the Saradha Chit Fund scam.
