Switzerland’s largest online banking platform Swissquote unveiled Monday its plans to launch its own crypto trading platform. The company will likely launch its new exchange by the first half of 2022, Jan De Schepper, sales manager at Swissquote, told finews.asia.
While the banking platform currently offers cryptocurrency services, including staking solutions, Swissquote plans to add more digital assets into its offering. The platform currently offers services in 24 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Chainlink, Litecoin, and more.
“We want to enable more trading in various cryptocurrencies on the platform,” Schepper said in the interview.
The news comes as more and more Swiss financial institutions and banks look to incorporate crypto and blockchain technology into their business. Last month, the Swiss Stock Exchange SIX launched SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) along with issuing its own CHF 150 million ($162 million) bond as a digital asset.
