Japanese professional tennis player Naomi Osaka has joined the list of sports legends who have launched their NFTs. The 23-year-old popular athlete released her second collection of NFTs on the 26th.
“Don’t miss out on the chance to grab one of my first NFTs Autograph Premier Preseason Access Passes drop today at 3PM ET,” wrote Naomi on Twitter.
Osaka’s NFTs were available in Carbon Premier, Platinum Premier, Emerald Premier, Sapphire Premier, and Ruby Premier, each having a different price and quantity.
The NFTs contain Osaka’s autographs in digital formats and the owners of Osaka’s Preseason Access Pass NFT were granted special access to the limited-edition Naomi Osaka NFTs as well as Autograph’s private community on Discord.
The cheapest token was available for $12 and the most expensive token was worth $1,500.
The four-time grand slam champion released her NFTs via Autograph, a platform co-founded by former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. In a conversation with Forbes, Brady remarked:
“We created Autograph as a way for fans and collectors to own a piece of iconic moments in sports and entertainment through authenticated and official digital collectibles, and we are just getting started.”
Osaka is also a member of the Autograph’s advisory board which includes Athletes such as professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, former baseball player Derek Jeter, and professional golfer Tiger Woods.
In an interview with People Magazine, Osaka commented:
“NFTs bring together art, design, and technology in a way that really speaks to the way we consume media these days. The more I work with and experience the crypto and NFT space I see how easily they can be bought, sold, and gamified.
NFTs and sports are a natural fit — it’s the new wave of collecting digitally on your phone and devices. Autograph is also making NFTs much more accessible with various price ranges, so I think mostly anyone that wants to be a part of this ultimately can, which I find really appealing.”
Osaka’s NFT collectibles are available to buy on Autograph.io and the DraftKings Marketplace.
