The Coast Guard sent back the former Vice President of the Maldives, Adib, who entered illegally in India

new Delhi. Indian Vice-President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor has been sent to India by the Indian authorities on Saturday. Gafur was arrested on Thursday by officials from Tuticorin (Tamil Nadu) port. They were trying to illegally enter India.

According to media reports, the Indian Coast Guard handed over 9 people to the Maldives security personnel on the International Maritime Boundary Line. Gafoor was also involved in this group.

Based on intelligence, raid on the boat

According to the Indian External Affairs Ministry, Gafur reached the coast of Tamil Nadu with the “Vergo-9” tag boat (Ship puller). They did not have the necessary documents to enter India. On the basis of intelligence, the team of customs and intelligence department raided the boat. Gafur was caught with a Singapore flagged boat there. They were hiding behind crew members

Gafur Ahmed Adeeb was the high profile politician of the Maldives who were removed from office in 2015 . The court there sentenced them to 33 years in corruption and other cases. In July 2015, Gafoor was elected as the 5th Vice-President of the Maldives. Three months later, he was removed from the post by bringing a no confidence motion in the Parliament. Gough was also a minister of tourism, art and culture.
