According to Haasan, there are terrorists within every religion and saying one particular group is innocent is an ignorant statement. During a talk with NDTV, Kamal had called Godse India’s first Hindu extremist, because of the latter’s direct role in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. A few days ago while campaigning in Madurai, a shoe was thrown at Kamal.
K.T. Rajenthra Balaji is a minister at the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu who said Kamal Haasan’s tongue should be chopped off. While publicizing his party Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Haasan said he is not concerned about stone pelting and so on. He wishes to bring all the communities closer so that harmony prevails.
BJP tried to vilify the image of Haasan following his bold comment on Godse. Tamil Nadu’s BJP President T. Soundararajan declared that Kamal is trying to promote communal violence by inciting the minority.
Modi had earlier said that no Hindu can ever be a terrorist.
