new Delhi . Stoning incidents in Jammu and Kashmir have gone down considerably. This information has come out from the Home Ministry. The Ministry said on Sunday that more than 2600 stone-bearing incidents were reported in 2016. There were only a few dozen incidents in the first half of 2019. The incidents of the arrest of anti-social elements, who were involved in stone-peddling incidents, dropped from 10,500 to about 100.
According to the ministry, in 2016, in the 2653 incidents of stone carving, the police arrested 10571 people. Only 276 of these people were sent to prison and the rest were warned. After the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani in 2016, there was a long period of unrest in the Kashmir Valley.
In the year 2017, there were 1412 stone-throwing incidents. Among them, 2838 people were arrested and 63 of them were sent to the jail. In the year 2018 there were 1458 incidents of stoneburst, of which 3797 people were arrested and 65 jails were sent. In the first six months of this year, nearly 40 stone-throwing incidents took place, in which about 100 people were detained. He said that after the implementation of the Governor’s rule on June 19, 2018, security situation has improved in the valley.
