US State Department defends Trump's statement, said – Kashmiri-Pakistan Bilateral issue


  • Trump had said on Monday that he would be happy to mediate on Kashmir issue

  • The US State Department, defending the statement of Trump a few hours later, said – We are ready to help

Washington. The US State Department has defended President Donald Trump’s statement in which he talked about preparing for mediation on the Kashmir issue. The Department spokesman said on Tuesday that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and the United States welcomes the meeting with these two countries.

Pak will have to curb terror for talks’

  1. It was said on behalf of the State Department that Kashmir is a matter of discussion for India and Pakistan, but the Trump administration is ready to help the two countries. It was said in the statement that Pakistan will have to eliminate terror to enhance the dialogue with India. For this, he needs to take some steady steps.

  2. It has been the policy of America for decades that Kashmir is an issue between India and Pakistan and the two countries have to decide the direction of the dialogue. However, President Trump said on Monday that he would be happy to mediate between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. Trump also said that in a recent meeting, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked him to mediate Kashmir.

  3. Indian Foreign Ministry rejected the claims of Trump, saying that no such demand was made by Modi on behalf of him. India is firm on its decision. All issues with Pakistan will be resolved through bilateral talks only. For any kind of dialogue with Pakistan, it is necessary to stop cross border terrorism.

  4. On this, the US State Department said, “We support efforts to reduce the tension between the two countries and create an atmosphere of dialogue. The most important thing for this is the elimination of terrorism and as the President said – we are ready to help. ”
